Plaintiff in CoreLogic RPS case files motion for proposed findings of fact and law before US trial on automated decision making tool

( March 5, 2022, 00:05 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Connecticut Fair Housing Center, in advance of a March 14 trial against CoreLogic Rental Properly Solutions, has filed its proposed findings of fact and conclusions of law in US District Court in Hartford, Connecticut. At issue is whether CoreLogic's CrimSafe automated decision making algorithm caused housing discrimination.  "Despite its knowledge that automated decisions result in discriminatory housing outcomes that cannot be justified as necessary to achieve a substantial, legitimate interest, and that individualized assessments are less discriminatory than rules-based screening algorithms, CoreLogic RPS continued to offer core CrimSAFE features designed to prevent staff from conducting individualized assessments, including the ability to suppress detailed criminal record from the view of leasing staff and the ability to automate delivery of adverse action letters," the plaintiffs allege in the proposed findings of law.See attached document....
