Important data, deletion among issues in Shanghai regulator's auto-data security report

( March 4, 2022, 01:47 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Some auto-data processors in Shanghai have failed to provide reasonable channels to handle users’ requests for the deletion of data while others have fail security assessments from the regulator for the cross-border transfer of important data, Shanghai Communications Administration said on its official WeChat account recently. The findings were made after the regulator scrutinized annual reports on data-security management submitted by the auto-data processors last year, although the watchdog didn't name the processors that hadn't met the required standards. Auto-data processors that failed in the reports were requested to resubmit materials within a designated period. The reports submitted by Tesla, the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance and SAIC Volkswagen, a joint venture between SAIC Motor and VW Group, were seen as satisfactory by the regulator.
