Construction companies, individuals fined in Germany for bid-rigging cartel

( December 14, 2023, 10:46 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Over a dozen of construction companies, including Eiffage Infra-West, as well as several individuals, received fines and liability amounts totaling around 4.8 million euros for bid-rigging in industrial construction contract tenders awarded by three steel companies, the German competition authority said today. For the first time, the office applied powers, introduced in 2017, to impose company fines and liability amounts. These powers have proven to be an effective tool in ensuring companies don’t avoid fines through clever restructuring processes. ”The legal loophole known in Germany as the “Wurstlücke” has therefore been closed for good,” chief Andreas Mundt said.
