California privacy enforcement agency could grow quickly, board chair says

The CPPA is hiring 34 staff members its first year, board Chair Jennifer Urban said. But the agency could quickly grow because the legislature appropriates $10 million a year to the agency, enough to hire an estimated 50 staff members, Urban said.   The new California Privacy Protection Agency, the first single-purpose data protection agency in the US, could rival the US Federal Trade Commission’s privacy and data security team in size, eventually.  ...
