FiberCop JV wins green light in Italy after commitments approved

( February 24, 2022, 08:45 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Italian telecom operators TIM, Fastweb, Tiscali and KKR have seen the closure of a 2020 probe into the creation of FiberCop — to manage TIM's "last-mile" network — after the national antitrust enforcer accepted their proposal. TIM has agreed to provide information needed to plan investments by alternative operators and to offer dark fiber in the primary network to them, reducing infrastructure costs, among other concessions, the agency said. The proposal will help to reduce barriers with regard to the acquisition of operators and promote infrastructure, the office said, adding that it would now closely monitor if the obligations are fulfilled.
