Officials deny Philippine passport data breach as fact-finding inquiry gets under way

( January 16, 2019, 09:56 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Philippines' Department of Foreign Affairs has told the National Privacy Commission there has been no breach of Philippine passport data based on its preliminary internal inquiries, as the contractor in possession of the information is owned and controlled by the government. The department was responding to the privacy regulator's launch of a preliminary fact-finding inquiry into the issue, which began after the foreign affairs minister said the contractor was refusing to give the government access to the data.
