Uber Technologies is a transport service and requires licenses, EU court opinion says

( May 11, 2017, 08:44 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: EU countries can require ride-sharing app Uber Technologies to obtain the necessary licenses and authorizations to operate because it falls within the field of transport, says a legal opinion for the EU Court of Justice, published today. Uber can't benefit from the freedoms that EU law grants to "information society services," says the opinion prepared by Advocate General Maciej Szpunar.
