Court of Justice Statement: AG Opinion in C-201/11 P, C-204/11 P, C-205/11 P UEFA, FIFA v Commission

( December 12, 2012, 08:56 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: An Advocate-General at the EU's highest court has suggested dismissing appeals by FIFA and UEFA over obligations to screen World Cup and European Championships on free-to-air television in the UK and Belgium. AG Niilo Jääskinen said that a lower court correctly assessed the European Commission's role in approving national lists of sporting events which are of 'major importance to society.'Full statement follows.
