Big Tech interventions led to six projects delayed or revised, Irish data watchdog reports

( June 23, 2020, 14:31 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Six planned projects by Facebook, Google, LinkedIn, Apple and Microsoft had to be delayed or revised after the Irish Data Protection Commission demanded they comply with data privacy requirements, the regulator said in a report describing its activity since the General Data Protection Regulation took effect in May 2018. They included Facebook's Dating and Election Day Reminder features and the processing of voice data by Google, Apple and Microsoft. The Irish DPC also said that the most common GDPR issues in complaints related to individuals' requests to access their data, fair data processing, the right to be forgotten, direct marketing and data security. The commission said it had opened 24 pan-European and 53 national probes and received 746 complaints from counterparts elsewhere in the EU for which it was identified as lead supervisory authority. The DPC closed an investigation into Apple because the complaint was withdraw, leaving it with 23 Big Tech probes.Statement follows. The document is attached....
