Google rejects US DOJ, states' arguments against allotting extended time to depose Microsoft executive

( February 18, 2022, 00:21 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Google should be afforded extended time to depose a senior Microsoft executive in a federal lawsuit that accuses it of monopolizing the search market, the company said today in a heavily redacted filing to the US District Court for District of Columbia. Microsoft doesn't dispute the "atypical proximity" of executive Jonathan Tinter, Microsoft's corporate vice president of business development, to a range of issues pertinent to both the DOJ and Colorado plaintiffs’ cases, Google said in a statement regarding a dispute involving third-party discovery of Microsoft. "Instead, when Google requested an extended deposition, Microsoft responded that Mr. Tinter 'has been a widely known senior executive of the company for more than a decade'. But that is precisely why Google should be afforded additional time for his deposition: Mr. Tinter has been personally involved in business activities at the heart of these cases for years," Google said.See attached document....
