AG opinion endorses single EU patent regime

Spain and Italy had challenged with the EU’s Court of Justice the decision of other governments to use the so-called ‘enhanced co-operation’ mechanism – which allows legislation to move forward even if certain EU capitals do not take part – to set up an EU-wide IP system.
