Andrew Tyrie, chairman of CMA, to step down from UK competition regulator in September

( June 18, 2020, 13:29 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Andrew Tyrie, the chairman of the UK Competition and Markets Authority, will step down in September, the regulator has said. Tyrie started as chairman of the CMA in June 2018 and put forward a series of proposals last February to overhaul the regulator’s competition regime, including tougher enforcement and consumer law powers. “The government asked me to take this work forward at great pace. I have done so. I now want to make the case more forcefully for legislative and other reform — in parliament and beyond — than is possible within the inherent limits of my position as CMA chairman,” Tyrie said in a statement from the authority today.Statement follows....
