​Thales, Gemalto divestment commitment underpinned New Zealand clearance, regulator reveals

( December 13, 2018, 09:00 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: French aerospace and defense company Thales told New Zealand’s competition regulator that it was ready to divest its global, general-purpose HSM business to gain clearance for its proposed acquisition of Dutch chipmaker Gemalto, according to a detailed assessment of the deal. Although the detail of the divestment commitment has been redacted, the document reveals that the company’s undertaking, once complete, would address the competition concerns expressed by the New Zealand Commerce Commission.
