Japan's Sakura Internet to become first domestic cloud provider to service government

( November 28, 2023, 07:27 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Japan's computing-services provider Sakura Internet said it has been conditionally approved to provide cloud services for the Japanese government, making it the first domestically headquartered cloud provider to be chosen to handle government data. Sakura Internet's tender was accepted on the condition that it satisfy the technological requirements set by the government by the end of fiscal year 2025. So far, only Amazon Web Services Japan, Google Cloud Japan, Microsoft Japan and Oracle Japan have won Japanese government cloud contracts.
