LG Electronics wins in South Korean lawsuit against Taiwanese LCD makers for price fixing

By Jenny Lee ( November 28, 2023, 07:01 GMT | Insight) -- In a significant legal victory for LG Electronics, a South Korean court recently ordered two Taiwanese display manufacturers to pay a substantial sum in damages for their involvement in a price-fixing cartel that inflated the cost of liquid crystal display panels. The Seoul Central District Court's decision on Nov. 23, which capped a legal battle that began in January 2014, ordered AUO, formerly AU Optronics, and HannStar Display to pay a total of 32.8 billion won (about $25.4 million) in compensation to LG Electronics and its six overseas branches.In a significant legal victory for LG Electronics, a South Korean court recently ordered two Taiwanese display manufacturers to pay substantial damages for their involvement in a price-fixing cartel that inflated the cost of liquid crystal display, or LCD, panels....
