Australia's new freedom of information commissioner, privacy commissioner to take office in early 2024

( November 27, 2023, 00:51 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Australia's new freedom of information commissioner and the privacy commissioner will take office in early 2024, the government announced today. In a statement, the Attorney General’s department said Elizabeth Tydd will become the Freedom of Information Commissioner for a five-year term from Feb. 19, 2024, while Carly Kind will take over the role of Privacy Commissioner from Feb. 26, 2024. The current information commissioner, Angelene Falk, will continue in the role of privacy commissioner until then. In a statement by the Office of the Information Commissioner, Falk said that these appointments will restore the three-commissioner model of the regulatory body. Tydd previously served as the Information Commissioner and the CEO at the Information and Privacy Commission of the Australian state of New South Wales.
