US Corning and Japan’s NGK cited by Brazil’s antitrust regulator in new car-parts probe

( December 21, 2015, 14:39 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The lower tier of Brazil’s competition authority has started a formal investigation into the impact in Brazil of a ceramic auto parts cartel. US-based glass and ceramics maker Corning and Japan-based auto parts manufacturer NGK Insulators, as well as several individuals, will be investigated for allegedly fixing prices and commercial terms in the market for specialized ceramic products, known as substrates or honeycombs, which are used in car and truck catalytic converters. Last month NGK pleaded guilty in the US to two felony charges for its role in a conspiracy to fix prices and rig bids for ceramic substrates. Corning is listed on the New York Stock Exchange. NGK is listed on the Tokyo and Nagoya stock exchanges.CADE statement follows in Portuguese....
