UK Competition Authority: OFT releases AA from certain undertakings agreed in 2000 for Tarmac acquisition

( November 21, 2012, 15:00 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Office of Fair Trading announced that it has varied undertakings Anglo American gave in 2000 with regards to its acquisition of Tarmac. AA committed to divest and not to re-acquire an interest in two asphalt plants in Ackworth and Renishaw. In May, the Competition Commission published its decision regarding the planned AA and Lafarge's joint venture, finding that it would not result in a substantial lessening of competition in the areas surrounding these plants.
