Optus CEO resigns following last year's data breach, recent network outage in Australia

( November 20, 2023, 01:04 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The top manager at embattled Australian telecommunications company Singtel Optus has resigned, following a recent service breakdown and last year’s damaging data breach. Kelly Bayer Rosmarin resigned as chief executive office today, Singtel Group, Optus’ Singapore-based parent company, announced. Optus has been facing consumer and shareholder class-action lawsuits over its 2022 data breach that left the personal information of 9.8 million Australians compromised. Bayer Rosmarin’s resignation follows a senate inquiry into the recent network outage and the cause of the breakdown. In the statement, Bayer Rosmarin, who was appointed as Optus CEO in April 2020, said that her resignation is “in the best interest of Optus moving forward.” The company’s chief financial officer, Michael Venter, will assume charge as interim CEO.The full statement by the Singtel Group is attached:...
