​Thales, Gemalto deal may proceed in New Zealand, subject to HSM divestment, regulator says

In a statement issued today, the New Zealand Commerce Commission announced it would approve the deal, which is part of a global transaction, but it had identified areas of concern involving hardware security modules, or HSMs. “We believe the combination of the two largest suppliers of general purpose HSMs in New Zealand would be likely to result in a substantial lessening of competition," Commerce Commission Deputy Chair Sue Begg said.The full statement by the Commerce Commission: ...
