​CCS clears Applied Materials, Tokyo Electron merger

( October 13, 2014, 07:08 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Competition Commission of Singapore on Oct. 13 announced it has cleared the proposed merger between semiconductor equipment makers Applied Materials and Tokyo Electron. The CCS found the combined market share of the two companies in the relevant market is less than 20 percent and there are a number of alternative suppliers that customers are able to switch to without substantial costs. Therefore, the transaction is unlikely to lead to substantial competition concerns in Singapore, the regulator concluded.
