Murray & Roberts fined by South African authority over World Cup construction cartel

( December 11, 2015, 11:30 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Construction firm Murray & Roberts has been fined 64.1 million rand ($4.1 million) by the South African Competition Commission for involvement in collusive tendering in the buildup to the 2010 Fifa World Cup. This is in addition to the 309 million rand it had to pay in 2013, when the Competition Commission wrapped up its fast-track investigation process into collusion in the construction sector. The commission began the fast-track process in 2011. The fine forms part of the commission’s second-phase probe into construction companies rigging prices.Statement attached....
