Mitolo Group's bid to acquire Thomas Foods's potato business faces Australian review

( May 28, 2020, 05:56 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Australian wholesale fresh potato and onion supplier Mitolo Group's plan to acquire Thomas Foods international's fresh potato business is facing an informal review from the country's competition watchdog. In an announcement today, the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission said it was reviewing the proposed acquisition of Thomas Foods' assets, inviting submissions on the deal through June 19 on questions including how closely the two companies overlap in the supply of fresh potatoes. The ACCC is expected to make an announcement of its findings on Aug. 6, which may be a final decision on the deal, or the day on which the watchdog publishes a statement of issues. The full statement from the ACCC follows; its market inquiries letter is attached below....
