Itaú, Rede, Hipercard settle two different Brazilian payment services inquiries

( April 5, 2017, 16:02 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Bank Itaú and credit card Hipercard, held by Itaú, have settled a Brazilian preliminary inquiry in which the two companies agreed to put an end to the current exclusivity between Hipercard in relation to the payment acquirer Rede, which is also held by Itaú. Additionally, the Administrative Council for Economic Defense, or CADE, signed another settlement agreement in a different preliminary inquiry with Rede allowing the insertion of cryptographic keys from competing vendors in its Pinpad equipment — machines that capture transactions with debit and credit cards in retail. CADE's Superintendence will continue investigating other companies included in both inquiries, which are Cielo, Bradesco, Banco do Brasil, Elo, Alelo, Amex e Ticket.CADE statement follows in Portuguese. ...
