CCI fines Super Cassettes Industries for abuse of dominance

( October 3, 2014, 06:19 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Competition Commission of India, in an order issued on Oct. 1, imposed a penalty of 28.3 million rupees ($460,000), or 8 percent of the average turnover of the last three financial years, on Super Cassettes Industries for abuse of dominance. Super Cassettes Industries produces and publishes music in India and licenses its products to media outlets. The CCI found the company to be in a dominant position in the market for licensing of Bollywood music to private FM radio stations in India, and it imposed unfair conditions of minimum commitment charges on private FM stations in its licensing agreements.  The regulator's order is attached, as well as its press release....
