​German authority accepts cooperation among smaller food retailers

( April 4, 2017, 08:55 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The German competition authority has said it will tolerate cooperation among smaller food retailers via a newly created joint venture called RTG Retail Trade Group. Bartels-Langness, Bünting, Georg Jos. Kaes, Klaas & Kock, Netto Nord and Real plan to cooperate on purchasing e-commerce, logistics and administration services. Given that four major food retailers hold over 85 percent of the market, the cooperation can ensure the competitiveness and independence of smaller retailers, the authority said.English statement follows....
