Comment: Watermarking not a silver bullet to identifying AI

Today the White House issued an executive order requiring the Department of Commerce to issue guidance on authentication technology or watermarking, and lawmakers are looking to solidify those practices into law. However, those authentication markers can be manipulated. Doctored images and videos altered using AI are flooding the Internet almost as fast as the technology is being adopted. A fake photo of Pentagon bombings last May caused a brief stock drop. A few days later, a fake video of a Ukrainian official arguing for the easing of Russian sanctions spread online....
