Norwegian Telecoms Regulator: Telecoms sector agrees on guidelines for network neutrality

( February 25, 2009, 08:46 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Norwegian telecoms industry, backed by regulator NPT, has agreed on a set of guidelines for network neutrality. The guidelines grants operators the right to shape or discriminate between certain types of traffic, as long as this is agreed in a transparent way with the end-user. The guidelines also allow operators to block or interfere with certain types of content, specifically child porn, spam, and denial of service attacks from virus-infected computers, as well as to safeguard network stability and integrity. However, subject to the service level agreements in end-user contracts, operators are obliged to treat all traffic equally, regardless of the content, application or service it carries....
