Italian court sides with regulator in probe of Sky Italia’s broadcasting rights

( September 24, 2014, 13:50 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Italy’s highest administrative judges have overturned a 2011 court ruling that annulled the national competition agency’s decision to accept antitrust commitments offered by Sky Italia. In 2010, the regulator closed its probe into the television broadcaster following a complaint from Conto TV. The authority accepted Sky’s offer to grant access to its platform and closed the probe. In a ruling handed down this week, Italy’s Council of State sided with regulator and Sky, saying that it disagreed with a lower court that said commitments can’t be accepted for conduct that no longer produces any effects....
