ABKCO says decision in Capitol v. Vimeo created stark split between state, federal law

( January 13, 2017, 23:32 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Music company ABKCO has filed an amicus brief asking the US Supreme Court to reverse a ruling by the US Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit that would give safe-harbor protection to Vimeo, a video website, for pre-1972 recordings. Vimeo won a case that said the Digital Millennium Copyright Act gave safe-harbor limits to state copyright laws, but Capitol Records and other music firms sued saying that state protections are valid. ABKCO said the decision created a "stark split" between state and federal law and that it would lead to arbitrary decisions.Please see attached amicus brief....
