Italian Competition Authority: Phase II investigation into CartaSì, ICBPI payment systems merger opened

( February 12, 2009, 17:17 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Italian competition authority has opened a Phase II investigation into the proposed acquisition of the CartaSì group by ICBPI (Istituto Centrale delle Banche Popolari Italiane). The authority will verify whether the concentration will create a dominant position in the markets for card issuing, merchant acquiring and processing related to the international payment cards in circulation on the national market.
