​Vossloh's acquisition of rail-parts maker Austrak receives Australian regulatory clearance

( November 15, 2018, 00:08 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The acquisition of Australian rail-track components company Austrak by German-owned Vossloh Australia is set to proceed, after Australia’s competition watchdog announced the deal wouldn’t substantially lessen competition in the market. In a statement announcing its decision, the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission said it had focused its review on vertical links between the two companies, including the way in which concrete sleepers manufactured by Austrak fit specific fastening systems, potentially including those manufactured by Vossloh. “After speaking with a range of industry participants, we consider that existing manufacturers of sleepers and bearers could expand their offerings, including by increasing production or expanding their geographic presence,” the ACCC’s Roger Featherston said.The full ACCC statement and deal assessment follows: ...
