( January 30, 2009, 10:22 GMT | Official Statement) -- ****************************************MLex Summary: A case brought by the Irish record labels EMI, Sony, Universal and Warner against incumbent telecom operator Eircom was settled in the High Court in Dublin yesterday, according to a press statement from the Irish Recorded Music Association IRMA. Under the terms of the settlement, the labels will supply Eircom with the IP addresses of subscribers suspected of illegally sharing copyrighted material over peer-to-peer networks. The operator will then inform the subscriber linked to that IP address of the alleged infringement, and if the infringement does not cease, disconnect the subscriber, mirroring a similar agreement in France. The record labels have begun the process of negotiating similar agreements with other ISPs in Ireland. Eircom was unavailable for comment....
