Today, 65 parliamentarians urged private companies and police to immediately stop using the technology out of fear over human rights, discrimination, a lack of legal basis, and more. UK facial recognition provider Facewatch, which is used in supermarkets, was recently subject to an investigation by the country’s data protection authority.
