Irish banks' mobile payments JV referred for in-depth review in Ireland

( December 8, 2021, 17:57 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Plans by Irish banks for Synch Payments DAC, a joint venture for mobile payment system services, have been sent for an in-depth merger review by the Irish merger watchdog. The project is a joint venture between Allied Irish Banks, the Bank of Ireland, Permanent TSB and KBC Bank Ireland. The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission said a full probe was needed to gauge if the plan would harm competition.
