China's prosecution offices sue 36,000 defendants for alleged infringement of personal information since 2019

( September 26, 2023, 04:52 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: China’s prosecution offices have sued more than 36,000 defendants for alleged infringement of citizens' personal information and lodged more than 10,000 public-interest lawsuits for personal-information protection from 2019 until June this year, the top prosecution office said at a press conference on combatting cyberviolence yesterday. The Supreme People's Court, the Supreme People's Protectorate and the Ministry of Public Security jointly issued guiding opinions on the punishment of illegal and criminal acts of cyberviolence. The top court also issued typical cyberviolence cases. In the next campaign, the public security authorities will target cyberviolence cases involving minors and those that issue illegal and harmful information by using deep-synthesis technology.
