Australian government ends formal involvement in HWL Ebsworth cyber incident response

( September 18, 2023, 01:36 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Australian government will have no further formal involvement in the response to the large data breach involving law firm HWL Ebsworth. In a statement, National Cyber Security Coordinator Darren Goldie announced the end of the government’s 16-week coordinated response to the incident, but said individual government agencies would continue to work with affected clients, and police investigations into the attack would also continue. As of September 2023, the breach has affected 65 Australian government entities, as well as a large number of private sector clients.
