Applied Materials, Kokusai Electric wins antitrust approvals in Japan, South Korea

( February 12, 2020, 23:00 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Applied Materials’ plan to buy Tokyo-based Kokusai Electric Corp. has won regulatory approval in Japan and Korea, the US company said during an earnings call. The giant supplier of chip-manufacturing equipment said two Asian antitrust regulators approved the $2.2 billion deal in the three-month period ended Jan. 26.
