Judicial caseload has reached 'urgent levels' in five district courts, chief judge tells Congress

( June 21, 2018, 21:43 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The US courts need additional judgeships, US District Judge Lawrence Stengel, chair of the Judicial Conference Committee on Judicial Resources, told a House subcommittee in testimony. The combination of a growing caseload and too few judges has pushed the caseload to "urgent levels" in five US district courts — the Eastern District of California, the District of Delaware, the Southern District of Florida, the Southern District of Indiana, and the Western District of Texas, Stengel said. "The lack of additional judgeships, combined with the growth in caseload, has created enormous difficulties for many courts across the nation," Stengel testified.See document below....
