Interpol issues COVID-19 guidance for law enforcement, warns of spike in fraud, cyberattacks

( March 27, 2020, 07:29 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Interpol has issued guidelines for law-enforcement agencies highlighting current and emerging crime threats amid the COVID-19 outbreak. The authority warned that various online-fraud schemes and phishing scams have been reported that are trying to take advantage of the crisis. Interpol said law-enforcement agencies should be aware of these practices and alert the public. It also said there has been "a marked increase" in cybercrime incidents tailored around the coronavirus targeting organizations with malware and ransomware.
