Don’t use BCC for mass sensitive e-mails, UK data regulator warns

( August 30, 2023, 10:41 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Companies sending bulk e-mail communications should not rely on the "blind carbon copy" function to protect people's information, the UK data protection authority said today. The Information Commissioner's Office released guidance today saying that failure to use BCC properly is one of the most common causes of data breaches, and so should be avoided when sending sensitive information. Organizations should use alternatives such as bulk e-mail services, mail-merge or secure data transfer services, the regulator said. The statement follows. The guidance in full is available here. ...
