Former Och-Ziff Europe executives face SEC action on Africa bribery

( January 26, 2017, 17:09 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Michael Cohen, former head of Och-Ziff's European office, and Vanya Baros, an investment executive for the European office, have been charged by the US Securities and Exchange Commission with vioating the antibribery and other provisions of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and provisions of the Investment Advisers Act in connection with bribery schemes throughout Africa. Och-Ziff Capital Management Group, a publicly traded New York hedge fund, and US-based executives settled Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and other charges with the SEC and the Department of Justice in September, agreeing to pay $416 million in sanctions. The SEC seeks disgorgement, interest and penalties from Cohen and Baros.Statement follows. See attached complaint....
