Argentine appeals court upholds temporary ban on WhatsApp's new privacy policy
( August 28, 2023, 14:45 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: An Argentine appeals court has upheld a decision prohibiting WhatsApp from implementing its new privacy policy in the country until a final decision on an antitrust investigation is made, according to a statement. WhatsApp in 2021 announced the implementation of its new privacy policy in Argentina for May 15, 2021. But the Commerce Secretary, following a recommendation from the National Commission for Competition Defense (CNDC), banned WhatsApp from making that implementation and ordered the messaging app to refrain from exchanging user data with other companies in the Facebook group (today Meta Platforms) and/or with third parties.
