CTS Eventim, TicketOne face dominance-abuse probe in Italy over concert-ticket sales

( September 26, 2018, 14:04 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Italy's competition watchdog has opened a formal probe to investigate whether TicketOne and its parent CTS Eventim have abused their market power, particularly through the online sale of tickets for live music events. The authority has suspicions that TicketOne, which dominates the ticketing market for pop and rock concerts, used a strategy to tie the most important organizers in Italy to its ticketing platform, preventing rival platforms from accessing the market. The strategy could also damage concert-goers because it gives TicketOne the opportunity to charge higher prices when pre-selling tickets, thus limiting customer choice, the authority said. The deadline for the probe is Dec. 31, 2019.Full statement follows in Italian:...
