China's draft guidelines provide classification for online platforms, outline responsibilities

( November 1, 2021, 01:50 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: China’s State Administration for Market Regulation is seeking public comment until Nov. 8 on two sets of guidelines for online platforms: one categorizes them into types and grades, and the other outlines responsibilities for them to fulfill. According to the guidelines, super-large platforms are defined as those having more than 500 million yearly active users and a market value of at least 1 trillion yuan ($156 billion). Super-large platforms must treat their affiliates and in-platform merchants in a fair and non-discriminatory manner when providing products or services; they should also promote the interoperability between their services and those from other platform operators, the guidelines said.The statement follows and the guidelines are attached....
