Reynolds American to acquire Lorillard in transaction valued at $27.4 billion

( July 15, 2014, 12:58 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Tobacco company Reynolds American has agreed to acquire rival Lorillard for $27.4 billion, including the assumption of net debt. As part of the deal, Reynolds has proposed selling to Imperial, a rival, the Kool, Winston, Salem, Maverick and blue eCigs brands as well as Lorillard manufacturing and research-and-development facilities in Greensboro, North Carolina. The merger and divestitures are expected to close in the first half of next year. Both are listed on the New York Stock Exchange. See the attached document....
