UK CMA stresses commitment to third-party confidentiality as it probes Sainsbury’s, Asda merger

( May 29, 2018, 10:21 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The UK Competition and Markets Authority has clarified how it plans to handle the information it receives as part of its probe into the merger of J Sainsbury and Asda, saying it will only disclose information it deems necessary. The regulator said it typically publishes the bulk of the third-party evidence it receives during its Phase II investigation, but will first seek to contact the company or individual concerned to confirm whether the information is commercially sensitive and should be excluded from publication. The CMA is currently in the “pre-notification” stage of its inquiry into the deal, and third parties have until June 4 to submit views....
