UK gaming, betting companies face legal action over ‘unlawful’ football data usage

( October 12, 2021, 13:25 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Gaming, betting and sports data companies in the UK are facing the prospect of legal action on behalf of more than 850 footballers, over alleged unlawful use of their personal and performance data by the multibillion-pound sports data industry. The group, led by football manager Russell Slade, alleges violations of UK privacy regulations and the EU's General Data Protection Regulation over transparency and consent to use players' data. The group has identified more than 150 companies, and issued 17 pre-action letters, as it hopes to "agree on a way forward which is acceptable to our players."...
