Federal prosecutors ask judge to increase Baiano, Cerveró and Camargo sentences in Petrobras corruption scheme

( September 18, 2015, 21:27 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Federal prosecutors have asked Federal Judge Sérgio Moro to increase to the maximum allowed under the law the sentences imposed on three individuals —money launderer Fernando Soares, former Petróleo Brasileiro executive Nestor Cerveró and Toyo Setal executive Julio Camargoas— related to a cartel and kickback scheme at Petrobras. The individuals were convicted of siphoning off 15 million reais in contracts with Petrobras worth 53 million reais between 2006 and 2007. Camargo was sentenced to 14 years in prison, but because he signed a whistleblower agreement with prosecutors, Moro reduced his sentence to five years under house arrest....
