Comcast urges FCC not to consider Bright House as part of company

( June 24, 2014, 21:53 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Federal Communications Commission shouldn't consider cable provider Bright House Networks a part of Comcast in gauging the effectiveness of proposed divestitures by Comcast to Charter Communications to erase antitrust concerns with the company's planned acquisition of Time Warner Cable, lawyers for Comcast, Time Warner Cable and Charter said in a letter to the agency Tuesday that was included in a Wednesday Comcast Securities and Exchange Commission filing. Time Warner Cable provides Internet broadband, engineering and other services to Bright House, and Comcast would take over as the services provider if the acquisition is completed. Comcast proposed divestitures to Charter that would result in Comcast-Time Warner Cable having fewer than 30 percent of US subscribers to pay-television services, the companies said. But the companies didn't include Bright House subscribers in their calculations, and the FCC shouldn't either, the companies said. The companies were responding to an FCC staff's request for information on Bright House's subscribers.See attached document....
